Overview

The QR Code Factory is a management page for your QR code templates. You can create, edit, copy, and delete QR designs. Templates can be personal, department-level, or company-level. Use it when you need to manage multiple QR designs or share designs across your organisation.

How to Access

Go to qr-code-factory (from the app menu or direct route).
Or from the QR Code tab on the Edit page, you may have a link to open the factory for managing templates.

Gallery View

The factory shows a gallery of your QR code templates. Each card displays:

Template name and description
Thumbnail preview
Level (Personal, Department, Company, or System)
Status (published, draft, etc.)

Filters

Filter templates by:

Level — Personal, Department, Company, or System. System templates are built-in and cannot be edited.
Status — All, Published, Draft, Mine, or System.

Creating a New QR Template

Click Create new (or the plus button).

The QR code editor opens. Design your QR code (dots, corners, colours, logo, etc.) — same options as the QR Code tab.

Enter a name and optional description.

Choose the level: User (personal), Department, or Company.

Save. The template appears in your gallery.

Editing a Template

Click a template card to open it.

Click Edit.

Make your changes in the editor.

Save. You can save as a new template or overwrite the existing one.

Copying a Template

Click Copy on a template to create a duplicate. The copy is named "[Original name] (Copy)" and is saved to your profile. Useful for starting from a system template or another user's design.

Deleting a Template

Click Delete and confirm. System templates cannot be deleted. Department and company templates require the appropriate permissions.

View As

The factory has a "View As" profile selector. When designing, you can preview how the QR code will look for a specific profile (e.g. which URL it encodes). Select a profile from the dropdown to see that profile's link in the QR preview.

Levels and Permissions

User (Personal) — Template is available only to you. Stored with your profile.
Department — Template is shared with your team. Department admins can create these.
Company — Template is shared across the organisation. Company admins can create these.
System — Built-in templates. Read-only.

Assigning a Template to a Profile

To use a template on a profile, go to the profile's QR Code tab. Select the template from the list. The template you created in the factory will appear there if it matches the level (e.g. your personal templates for your profile, department templates for profiles in that team).
