Help Center › Print Templates - Business Card Designer

Overview

The Print File Designer (Business Card Designer) is a visual, Canva-style tool for creating printable business card templates. Design front and back layouts on a canvas, add dynamic fields that pull from profiles, and export single or bulk designs. Templates you create here become the default for NFC card ordering and can be used for any print job.

How to Access

  • Open your profile, team, or company (from the hub or sidebar).
  • Go to the Design tab (or Edit page).
  • Click Print Templates or Business Cards.
  • The designer opens with three panels: Design (tools), Templates (save/load), and Export (download).

    Interface

    • Canvas — Central area. Standard business card size: 85mm × 55mm (3.35" × 2.17"). Switch between Front and Back sides.
    • Design sidebar — Left. Add text, shapes, images, dynamic fields, and QR codes.
    • Properties panel — Right. Edit the selected object (position, size, font, colour, etc.).
    • Canvas toolbar — Above the canvas. Zoom (33%–300%), delete, copy, undo/redo.
    • Preview mode — Toggle to see the card with real profile data, locked for viewing.

    Design Tools

    Text

Add a text block. Click Text in the sidebar. Edit the content in the properties panel. Options: font family, size, weight, colour, alignment, line height, letter spacing.

    Shapes

    Click Shapes to expand. Add:

    • Rectangle — Filled or outline
    • Circle — Filled or outline
    • Line — Horizontal or diagonal

Use for backgrounds, dividers, or accents. Edit fill colour, stroke colour, and stroke width in the properties panel.

    Upload Image

Click Upload Image to add a photo or graphic. Supported: PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, PDF. PDFs are converted to images. Images scale to fit the canvas. Use for logos, photos, or custom graphics.

    QR Code

Add a QR Code element. You can:

    • Use a static URL — Edit the URL in the properties panel.
    • Use the Profile QR Code — A dynamic field that shows the profile’s QR (links to the digital card). This is the usual choice for NFC cards.

    Dynamic Fields

Dynamic fields are placeholders that are replaced with real data when you export or generate cards.

    Dynamic images:

    • Profile Photo — Profile owner’s photo
    • Company Logo — Company logo
    • Profile QR Code — QR code linking to the profile (uses your QR template)

    Dynamic text fields:

    • First & Last Name, First Name, Last Name
    • Prefix, Suffix (e.g. Dr., Jr.)
    • Job Title, Company
    • Work Email, Work Phone, Work Website
    • Address

More fields (expandable list): Middle Name, Preferred Name, Pronoun, Headline, Personal Email, Personal Phone, Mobile, Personal Website, Department, City, Postcode, Country.

Click a field to add it to the canvas. It appears as a placeholder (e.g. {{first_name}}). When you export or generate, it is replaced with the profile’s data.

    Object Manipulation

    • Select — Click an object to select it.
    • Move — Drag to reposition.
    • Resize — Use the handles when selected.
    • Rotate — Use the rotation handle.
    • Delete — Select and click Delete or the trash icon.
    • Duplicate — Select and click Copy.
    • Layers — Bring to front, send to back, lock. Use the properties panel.

    Front and Back

The card has two sides. Use the Front / Back tabs above the canvas to switch. Design each side separately. You can have content on both sides or only the front.

    Preview Mode

Toggle Preview to see the card with real profile data. Dynamic fields show actual names, contact info, and images. The canvas is locked so you can’t edit. Toggle off to return to editing.

    Templates

    Saving a Template

  • Click Save (or the Templates panel).
  • Enter a name and optional description.
  • Save. The template is stored for your profile, team, or company (depending on context).
  • Loading a Template

In the Templates panel, you’ll see:

    • System templates — Pre-built designs.
    • Your templates — Templates you or your team created.

Click a template to load it. You can edit and save as a new template or overwrite the existing one.

    Assigning a Template

In the Business Cards tab (before opening the editor), select a template and click Assign. That template becomes the default for:

    • This profile, team, or company
    • NFC card ordering — The order flow uses the assigned template
    • Bulk download — When you download cards for multiple profiles, each profile uses its effective template (profile → team → company)

    Export

    Single Card Export

  • Open the Export panel.
  • Choose Format: PNG (digital), JPG (sharing), or PDF (print).
  • Choose Quality: Standard (150 DPI), High (300 DPI), or Print (600 DPI).
  • Click Download Business Card.
  • The card is generated with the current profile’s data and downloaded. Dynamic fields are replaced with real values.

    Bulk Export (from Profiles Page)

  • Go to Profiles.
  • Select one or more profiles (checkboxes).
  • Click Bulk actionsDownload business cards.
  • A ZIP file is created with front and back images for each profile.
  • Each profile uses its effective template (assigned at profile, team, or company level). If a profile has no template, it is skipped.

    Bulk Generation (Order Cards)

When you order NFC cards, the Order Cards page uses the same template system. At the Design step, you pick a business card template. The system generates a design for each profile in the order, using that template and each profile’s data. The generated files are sent for printing.

    Card Specifications

    • Physical size: 85mm × 55mm (3.35" × 2.17")
    • Canvas resolution: 1004 × 650 pixels at 300 DPI
    • Export resolution: Up to 2510 × 1625 px (with quality multiplier) for sharp print output

    QR Code in the Designer

The Profile QR Code dynamic field uses your assigned QR template (from the QR Code tab). The QR links to your profile. For NFC cards, the physical card is pre-linked at order time, so the QR and NFC tap both open the same profile.

You can also open the QR Editor from the properties panel when a QR element is selected, to create or edit a QR template without leaving the designer.

    Template Inheritance

    For companies and teams:

    • Company template — Default for the whole organisation.
    • Team template — Overrides company for that team.
    • Profile template — Overrides team for that profile.

When generating or ordering, the system uses the effective template (the one at the lowest level that is assigned).

    Tips and FAQ

    What file format for printing?

PDF at High or Print quality (300–600 DPI) is best for professional printing.

Can I use different designs for different people?

Yes. Assign different templates at profile, team, or company level. Each profile uses its effective template.

Where does the order system get its design?

From the template assigned to the profile, team, or company. Set the default in the Business Cards tab before ordering. The Order Cards page also lets you pick a template at order time.

Do I need to create a template before ordering?

Yes. The order flow requires a business card template. Create one in the Business Cards tab, assign it, then order.
